Approach & Specialist Areas:
I am an integrative therapeutic counsellor practising a predominantly person-centred, non-directive approach to therapy. I thus draw on knowledge and understanding from a variety of approaches, depending on which will be most effective in enabling you to reflect on yourself and how you experience yourself in the world.
I specialise in working with those experiencing a sense of loss following great and often sudden changes in their lives which can cause uncertainty and can confront us with concepts and questions of self-identity, life purpose, meaning, belonging, and choices. This can change the roles, relationships, and perceptions of individuals, particularly perceptions of self-worth. This can be overwhelming. There are many forms of change in our lives, often involving a sense of loss. The concept of loss and the inability to process it can contribute significantly to a variety of distressing situations and challenging circumstances in people’s lives.
I apply theoretical and professional knowledge and experience to help with a variety of short-term and long-term issues including:
I am a genuine caring counsellor, offering honesty and empathic understanding to enable you to feel confident in sharing and working through your difficulties to help you gain personal growth and strength. I aim to create a non-judgmental safe space where you can go on a journey that allows you to connect to yourself to deeper levels and learn to integrate all aspects into your self-understanding.
I believe every person has the potential to achieve growth and healing with the help of a supportive environment, and I recognise the quality of the therapeutic relationship as a key element for creating a trusting environment for the therapeutic process to occur. If you are willing to engage in the process, this journey can bring new insights and be truly life changing.
Background:
As someone who moved to the UK thirty years ago and experienced the process of adapting to life in a new country, I have always had a keen interest in how people cope when facing times of significant change in their lives. This motivated me to train as a counsellor and during this time to work with Cruse bereavement care for five years supporting people who have lost loved ones. Given both my personal and professional experience, I have learned that a sense of loss is not only about losing a loved one through death; rather it can be present in a variety of situations and impact people’s mental health in many ways.
Training and Qualifications:
Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
Certificate in bereavement support, Cruse, Oxford

Approach & Specialist Areas:
We all go through times in our life when things are challenging, and we find ourselves struggling in different ways. This can result in you feeling anxious, depressed, or just stuck in a rut that you don’t know how to get out of. It could be you have experienced relationship problems, financial difficulty causing you stress or have suffered a bereavement and are looking for support to cope and move forward. At times like these it can be helpful to talk to someone.
I offer a friendly, warm, empathetic, and non-judgemental approach in a safe and confidential space where we can explore your feelings and concerns that are troubling you together. I am a qualified counsellor with a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). I'm currently specialising in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
I am an integrative counsellor. This means that I use different techniques from different types of therapy to tailor an approach specifically for you. Whilst working mainly from a Person-Centred approach I also draw on Psychodynamic Therapy, CBT, and Transactional Analysis where appropriate. I have worked with a range of clients from different backgrounds and with various issues including depression, anxiety, low mood, relationship issues, bereavement, low self-esteem, abuse (sexual & domestic violence), work difficulties and dealing with terminal illness.
I work in person and offer online counselling. If you would like to work with me so we can explore your issues and work together to help you, then please contact me for an initial session.
Background:
My background is in Psychology in which I have an MSc and BSc. My initial interest in psychology stemmed from my need to understand mental health after I experienced my own issues. I lectured and taught psychology for many years and during my time in education I was a pastoral tutor to students aged 14-18. In this role I supported students experiencing many types of challenges and problems including anxiety, self-harm, sexual health issues, sexual dilemmas, domestic problems, cyberbullying and relationship problems. My own experience of mental health problems throughout my life, and the help and support that therapy gave me then inspired me to train as a counsellor in order to provide others with the same healing.
Training and Qualifications:
Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
Certificate in Counselling Studies
Certificate in Counselling Skills
MSc Psychology
PGCE
BSc (Hons) Psychology
Currently completing Level 5 Diploma in CBT

Approach & Specialist Areas:
I am a qualified integrative counsellor, which essentially means I have a toolkit of different techniques and experiences I can draw upon in our sessions, depending on your needs. Everyone is different and counselling is not a 'one size fits all' approach.
Sometimes in life we feel out of control, lonely, stuck, struggle to cope, repeat destructive patterns or wonder why we're in the same situation again. You don't have to be 'mentally ill' to need or benefit from counselling. It can help with developing self-awareness, improving relationships and making better informed decisions.
I offer honesty, empathy, a space to talk, be heard and understood. Through our relationship I want to help you unravel your thoughts and feelings, but I won't give you answers or advice. I ask for commitment and a willingness to challenge yourself but also self-compassion; it may be bumpy.
Background:
I have over 12 years’ experience of working in education and the lack of readily available mental health resources in this sector, inspired me to become a counsellor. I have always been fascinated by ‘what makes a person’, our childhood experiences and how we interact with others.
Training & Qualifications:
Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Banbury Counselling Academy)

Approach & Specialist Areas:
As an integrative, trauma-focused counsellor, I believe that healing happens when we reconnect with ourselves—emotionally, physically, and energetically.
My work supports children, teenagers, and adults in understanding their feelings, processing stuck emotions, and breaking free from unhealthy thought and behaviour patterns.
Many of my clients have grown up in high-pressure environments (military, medical, academic families) and struggle with - depression, anxiety, self-harm, lack of belonging, low self-esteem, issues with self-worth and boundaries, people-pleasing, relational trauma, perfectionism, anger, and self-abandonment.
I specialise in attachment work, inner child healing, and relational trauma, offering individual therapy, joint parent-child sessions, and parental consultations. My goal is to provide a supportive space where collaboratively with the client we work through family wounds and difficult parent-child dynamics, make sense of their physical and emotional pain and find a path to ease and emotional safety. We also focus on developing self-compassion so they can feel more at home in themselves and their body.
My approach blends integrative and humanistic approaches with inner child work, parts work, art &play therapy, awareness of systemic work, psycho-education as well as mindfulness, breath and energy work. My work is rooted in the mind-body connection and it is not about fixing you because you are not broken but guiding you towards greater self-awareness, empowerment, and emotional mastery.

Approach & Specialist Areas:
Dramatherapy is a client centred approach that works at the client's pace. Dramatherapists are psychotherapists who offer creative tools in the therapy space such as drawing, art, storytelling, movement and play. Although creative tools are on offer many clients prefer talking through what has brought them to therapy before or instead of exploring creative ways of expressing themselves and their stories and this is absolutely encouraged. Some people may find that traditional talking methods have not worked for them and are looking for a different approach and in this case the creative tools on offer in Dramatherapy can be a beneficial way of engaging. My approach is gentle and supportive, offering space and time for clients to explore whatever it is that has bought them to therapy in a way that feels beneficial and right for them.
Background:
Throughout my career I have supported children, teenager's and adults in both individual and group settings in both primary and secondary schools, secure unit settings, in private therapy settings and for various charities in Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Wiltshire and Buckinghamshire. My areas of expertise are working with attachment, adoption and fostering, trauma and generational trauma, mental health, Autism, ADHD, special educational needs and life limiting conditions. I also have experience of working with parents facing challenges in their parenting journey and who may need support with coming to terms with life changing diagnoses and circumstances.

M.A Dramatherapy from the University of Roehampton.

Approach & Specialist Areas:
The psychodynamic approach to therapy focuses on helping us to identify and understand negative patterns of relating and behaving so we can begin to find better ways of coping with life's difficulties. As such, the work we do together involves thinking about what lies under the surface of thoughts, feelings and actions as a way of gaining greater self-awareness. It can involve thinking about past events and their impact on the present. Additionally, close attention is paid to the relationship between us in the counselling room as a way of throwing light on relationships in your everyday life.
Other approaches may also be integrated into the above (eg person-centred and elements of CBT) as and when appropriate, to best resolve your issues and meet your needs.
Background:
I am an experienced counsellor with practices in Witney and Oxford. I also have close links with the Oxford Women’s Counselling Centre (OWCC), initially as a counsellor and now as an assessor for the organisation. Prior to training as a counsellor I lectured in Psychology.

Approach:
Therapy is a very personal matter and the relationship with the therapist has to feel comfortable and safe. Finding the right person for you is key. It is generally understood in the field of therapy that the quality of the therapeutic relationship, not just the theory practised, is what makes therapy successful for the individual. An initial meeting will enable you to see if on meeting me, you feel you could work with me.
Background:
After qualifying as a therapist in 2000, I worked in private practice wth adults for 9 years. I then began working as part of a team that offered Solution Focused Therapy to families in crisis for Social Services in West London.
Since 2009 I have worked as a school counsellor with children aged 11 to 18 years old. This work requires a creative and adaptable way of working to engage a young person. My private practice then evolved to offering work to teens and families.
Training & Qualifications:
My training is in Psychological Counselling, which draws on psychodynamic, CBT and humanistic theory. I studied Counselling Psychology at Roehampton University and received PG dip in Psychological Counselling.
PG dip in Working with Adolescents from WPF,
Diploma in Family Work from Oxford College,
Certificate in Solution Focused Therapy from BRIEF.

Approach & Specialist Areas:
I provide counselling to meet your individual needs and to help you find your own way of dealing with life’s challenges. Experienced in working with both young people and adults to improve and maintain their mental health, we will work together on the problems that you face to find your own path to positive change and to continue with this after the counselling has ended. I have worked with people from a variety of age groups and backgrounds on many life and mental health issues including anxiety, depression, sexual abuse, relationship issues, work-related stress, bereavement, family issues, and self-harm.
Background:
After nearly ten years working in the corporate world, my growing interest in helping people, including myself, with their relationship with themselves and with their mental health led me to pursuing a career as a counsellor. Three years volunteering with the Samaritans had shown me the power of actively listening and being there for someone when they need it most, or when they feel like there’s nobody else that will. I am a Person Centred counsellor which means I believe that therapy takes place when there is an understanding, accepting and genuine relationship that the counsellor has with their client. Under those circumstances, I will help you to find your own way through whatever issues you are facing, without fear of judgement or misunderstanding.
Training & Qualifications:
I have a Higher Professional Diploma in Counselling (BACP accredited course) and am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have presented a piece of research on anxiety at the BACP Annual Research Conference 2019 and I am also currently undertaking a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice.

Approach:
Are you finding life a struggle? Do you feel stuck, or disconnected from yourself? I invite you to take a breath and listen-in. What do you need right now? When was the last time someone really listened to you with calm, warm acceptance, without judgement, and with curiosity and kindness? I offer a safe, welcoming space where we can explore together the way in which you relate to yourself and others. I use gentle embodied mindfulness and presence to help you relate to yourself in a new way.
Combining Buddhist wisdom with Western Psychodynamic theory, I bring curiosity, empathy, loving-kindness and a belief that at our core we are all essentially free and possess inherent health. I believe in asking, “What has happened to you?”, rather than “What is wrong with you?”. The whole of you is welcomed and accepted. Many people come to me looking to get rid of their unpleasant emotions or feelings, but what they don't realise is that they are quite often turning against a part of themself that needs loving attention and kindness. Bringing gentle awareness and acceptance to these parts can lead to a profound transformation and peace.
Background:
I love wild swimming, walking, and spending time in nature. I do not adhere to any particular religion but find great wisdom in many spiritual traditions and believe we are held by something greater than ourselves.
I began my career as a vet and subsequently raised five children. Through my own experiences of yoga, meditation teacher training and Buddhist practice, I was drawn to the Karuna Institute and began psychotherapy training in 2022, having completed two years of counselling training.
Alongside my private work, I volunteer as a trainee-counsellor at a charity in Cheltenham and have also volunteered as a peer support worker for Oxfordshire Mind.

Approach & Specialist Areas:
From my experience of having counselling at different stages of my life - being ‘the client’ - I discovered that therapy can be a profound and deeply transformative process. It brought meaning, self-wisdom and vitality into my life. I believe that the relationship between client and therapist is one of the most powerful and effective ways to experience emotional healing, psychological wellbeing and personal growth. This is one of the reasons that I trained as a counsellor.
You and the challenges you’re facing are unique. I offer you a place of safety and empathy to unpack it all. As an integrative therapist, I work alongside you to create a bespoke personal therapy which addresses your needs and hopes.
